Spring 2011 on his Gator

We are celebrating lots of things this month, including a sweet boy’s birthday. This kid loves wheeled vehicles and his Dat Dat. Happy birthday, Monkey Joe.

We would also like to take a moment to acknowledge all of you. Our first year in the tasting room exceeded our expectations, and we appreciate all of your support. There were so many fun and exciting things that happened in 2013. It would be impossible to list all of them, but a few highlights were: celebrating with bachelorettes; celebrating a few birthdays, from 21 to 71; building some new friendships with our fellow NC growers; sharing some laughs, hard work, and wine with incredible long-tenured friends and our family; making our first Sangiovese rosé and our first Barbera; completing our first year in the tasting room. These are all things we are celebrating.

The polar vortex of 2014 brought us some really cold temperatures this early January. After the cool year we had in 2013, I guess a cold winter is to be expected. I am not a cold weather kind of guy. Spring and summer are my favorite times. I much prefer 80F to 8F. Personally, I am looking for a really hot summer and some serious sugar accumulation in the fruit this year. We should get the first fruit from our Petit Manseng vines, and I am so excited about the potential from that fruit.

Fall 2011. These two are pretty fond of wheeled vehicles too.

Now if we can just make it through the winter…
