Tasting Room Update

OK, so I admit my weekly-ish posting is a little less than that. But while the blog has been silent, the work has been getting done. Paint, flooring, cabinets and most of the trim is installed in the tasting room. HVAC work was finished Thursday. The trim is black pine, harvested from our farm in early 2010, and stained with ZAR 'Provencial' wood stain. We had the timber milled to ~1" thick lumber, and it has been sitting in the barn curing since being milled. We had planned to use it as flooring in my maternal grandparents' house, where Dianne and I are living now. It is a project that has been on the backburner for a couple of years, so we decided to make use of the material in a different capacity.

My uncle, Jerry, and his employer, Brett King, installed all of the flooring and trim, and they built the custom cabinetry, including the cherry wine racks. The cabinet shop is Flat Rock Custom Woodworks in Hendersonville, NC.

The wine rack, flooring, trim, bar and ceiling... a glimpse of lots of stuff!

We still need to finish the plumbing, plus a little bit of electrical and plumbing work in the basement [future winery space], countertops, and do some of the landscaping. As it stands now, we are fairly confident we will have our first open weekend 16-18 Nov. We are excited about opening and look forward to seeing you here.
